This review aims to ensure continued relevance, alignment with international requirements (e.g. PEFC), and incorporation of national and stakeholder interests. Your feedback will help strengthen the MTCS by improving the standards\u2019 clarity, feasibility, and effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The review of the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) standards, particularly&nbsp;<strong>MTCS ST 1002:2021 Malaysian Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>MTCS ST 1003:2021 Group Forest Management Certification \u2013 Requirements<\/strong>, is a crucial process to ensure their continued relevance, credibility, and alignment with international best practices in sustainable forest management and certification.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This review is mandated by&nbsp;<strong>MTCS ST 1001:2021 Standard Setting Procedures for Forest Management Certification Standards<\/strong>, which requires a periodic revision of all standards under the scheme at least every five years or sooner if necessary. It also reflects the need to address evolving environmental, social, and economic challenges, as well as stakeholder expectations at both national and international levels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, alignment with the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) requirements, particularly&nbsp;<strong>PEFC ST 1001:2017 Standard Setting Requirements<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>PEFC GD 1007 Endorsement and Mutual Recognition of Certification Systems and their Revision<\/strong>, is essential to maintain MTCS\u2019s endorsement status and ensure compatibility with the latest PEFC benchmark standards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this review, the MTCC aims to enhance the effectiveness, clarity, and implementability of its standards while strengthening stakeholder confidence and international recognition.
