Showcasing the picturesque landscape, beautiful fauna and flora, to people working in the forests, the contest aims to promote love for our nature and forests as well as raise awareness of the public on the benefits of sustainable forest management which helps to ensure the perpetuity of forests.<\/p>\n<p>Returning after the successful inaugural contest last year, MTCC is once again collaborating with PCP Publications for the contest themed, <em>\u201cExperience Forest, Experience MTCS\u2013PEFC\u201d.<\/em> The contest which is opened from 1 June to 10 September 2018 has included a new mobile category for submission of short videos.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u201cMTCC is proud to be organising the second edition of the contest after a successful \u00a0\u00a0event in 2017. Last year, we received encouraging response with submission of 837 high quality photos creatively depicting the splendour of Malaysian forests. We hope to continue cultivating the love for nature and forests among Malaysians and in the process promoting the importance of sustainable forest management,\u201d said MTCC CEO, Mr Yong Teng Koon.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis time round, we are encouraging more photography and nature enthusiasts to participate in both the photography and videography categories as we believe that visual arts have the capability to send strong messages on care for the environment to its audience,\u201d Yong explained.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s contest will have three themes for its camera category and one for the mobile videography category:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Category 1<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Forests and People<\/strong>;<\/span> seeks images of people involved in the field of forestry responsible for the well-being of Malaysia\u2019s forest resources such as foresters, forest rangers, forest researchers and indigenous peoples.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Category 2<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Forests and Forest Landscapes<\/strong>;<\/span> this category welcomes any shots showcasing the natural beauty, diversity and uniqueness of forests by capturing the geological, climatological features and natural environment of Malaysian forests.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Category 3<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Forests and Fauna<\/strong>;<\/span> seeks amazing images of animals in the wild including mammals, birds, amphibians or reptiles.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Category 4<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Mobile Short Video<\/strong>;<\/span> requires participants to record the wonders of Malaysian forests in a two to three minute short video clip. Participants may use a variety of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, drones, GoPros, or a combination of these mobile devices, to capture the sights and sounds of the natural environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we have included the mobile category as we understand the power of mobile devices to convey important messages particularly among the younger generation. It is our hope that individuals can use their mobile devices in the best manner, in this case, to share the stunning beauty of our tropical forests. It offers great opportunity to anyone passionate about videography and nature to pick up their mobile device and start shooting videos of the natural environment,\u201d explained Yong.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4566\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4566\" style=\"width: 840px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mtcc.monyads.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/MTCC-Photography-Contest-2018-Pic-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4566 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/mtcc.monyads.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/MTCC-Photography-Contest-2018-Pic-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4566\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Themed \u201cExperience Forest, Experience MTCS-PEFC\u201d, MTCC Photography Contest 2018 invites all photography enthusiasts to show their love for nature by submitting their best shots of Malaysian tropical forests.<\/span><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Creative photo submissions that meet contest criteria will be in the running to win a grand prize of RM2,000, a first prize of RM1,000 per category, two merit prizes of RM500 per category and five consolation prizes of RM200 per category.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the best three mobile video clips will receive a cash prize of RM500 each. In addition, all winners will also receive a photobook courtesy of PCP Publications. Participation is open to anyone of Malaysian nationality who has a passion for forests and photography.
