What Guides

Our Work

The Malaysian Timber Certification Council was established in October 1998 to develop and operate the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS), Malaysia’s voluntary national timber certification scheme. As an independent organisation governed by a Board of Trustees, MTCC has overall responsibility for the development and administration of MTCS, ensuring that timber certification in Malaysia remains credible, transparent, and aligned with international requirements.

Through MTCS, MTCC supports sustainable forest management and builds confidence in certified timber products from Malaysia. MTCC also represents Malaysia within the global framework of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), where it serves as Malaysia’s National Governing Body and national member. This ensures that MTCS remains internationally recognised.

These principles guide how MTCC develops standards, oversees certification, and works with stakeholders across the forestry and timber supply chain.
